Laura
Before jewelry, I began my creative journey in industrial design where I was trained to think carefully about materials, structure, and how products are made and used. While I loved the rigor and process of design, I found myself wanting to work at a more personal scale by creating pieces that are not just functional and mass produced, but meaningful to the people who own them. Jewelry offered that balance.
Working as an apprentice jeweler has opened doors to creating at a more intimate scale, allowing me to stay closely connected to each piece through hands-on artisan skill sets that are lacking in the industrial world. Good jewelry is enduring, shaped by both skill and sentiment, created to be lived with and passed on. A jeweler's job is to make that happen. Knowing that I am creating heirlooms to be cherished by the person they are ultimately made for has made all the difference in my practice. I am excited for what the future holds as I grow in skill as a jeweler here at Adam Foster Jewelry!
